Subject: Chipping polish
Message: I have a hard time keeping polish on my nails. A Nail Tech friend of mine suggested that I ask my nail tech to dehydrate my nails instead of soaking them in water. What does that mean? Is there an over the counter product besides acetone that I can use?

Message: Aside from dehydrating the nails you will also dehydrate the cuticles and surrounding tissue. If your nails are hydrated and healthy, you would be making a serious mistake doing anything to unseat the natural balance.
I would suggest that if your nails grow without problems and are strong, use a smooth cow hide buffer to buff a natural sheen to the surface of the nails and forget the topical application.
You are one of the fortunate ones it seems so be careful taking the advise of "nail techs". They are not trained medically with regards to natural balance of the body...They generally know about topical treatments which is what they do so be careful please.
