Subject: acetone and pregnancy
Message: I have read some of the messages posted about acetone and pregnancy. Although natural nails are preferred, most women have manicures and pedicures after their first trimester. Acetone in nail polish remover should not be inhaled or left in contact with the skin for long periods of time. The nail plate, however does not absorb nail polish or acetone. The remover should be used if necessary and washed immediately and used in a well ventilated room, preferably outdoors. Watch out for certain nail polishes that contain toluene and formaldehyde. L'oreal and Revlon sell polishes free of these chemicals.
