Subject: Black or Brown Steaks
Message: My daughter actually has experienced black/brown streaks on her finger, she is only 13. I took her to a very good doctor in California; Dr. Anderson. He said that it is from not being active enough.I thought it was fungal too and bought ointment for it; of course it didn't work. Fungal infections are greenish yellow in color. Anyway when my daughter ran track they weren't there, and now that she isn't running they are visable. Hmm I think Dr. Anderson is right- he appears to be highly intellegent. If ever anything he comes across seems unclear, he is not ashamed to resort to his his medical books.

Message: the black/brown streaks in her nails are just a condition called melanonychia. it's genetic. lots of people have them, male and female. occurs mostly in african-americans and other dark pigment skin people. it does happen to caucasians too. i don't believe not being active enough has a thing to do with whether we get them or not. being active and getting the oxygen flowing through the body might speed up the process of the streaks going away, but i believe they would be there anyway.
