Subject: buffers
Message: Does anyone have a preference of cowhide or chamois buffers? Do they both seem to work the same?

Message: i prefer cowhide. they last longer and have a nice softness to them when they age. chamois buffers can become stiff i've found.

Message: The smooth cowhide provides the ideal surface to use a buffing cream that is mildly abrasive, and it will not add unnecessary abrasion that may damage the nails surface since the idea is to buff out the small ridges and imperfections in the surface of the nails.
On the other hand the chamois buffers are abrasive unto them selves, but that could be overkill for some nails.
Cheryl is right in that the smooth surface of the cowhide buffer ages better than the chamois buffers.
It's like the difference in fine Italian leather and patent leather. It really depends on personal preference and desired use.
