Subject: burning and blistering after nail application
Message: Hi-- hope someone here can help.
I've worn nails on and off for about 17 years. I went yesterday for a fill and woke up this morning to a burning sensation on the skin around my nails, blistering on a few fingers and some blood blisters.
There is product stuck in a few places to my skin next to the nail bed.
What is the cause of the blistering and burning? What do I do to fix this?
Thank you!

Message: Janis,
you can go for years, if your lucky, and never have a reaction to the "acrylic mix", then overnight have an allergic reaction to the fill-in. just like some people are never allergic to bee stings and suddenly at 40, 50, 60 years old, have a violent reaction to being stung. it happens alot. your nails have said they've had enough of the chemicals. between the acid primer, and the chemical reaction of the acrylic powder and monomer to form the fill-in your skin around your nails is reacting with blisters. and it sounds like a fairly painful case. let's face it, blisters anywhere, whether they are on your feet from shoes rubbing or on your hands from raking, or around your fingers from the acrylic is our bodies way of saying i don't like this one bit. my guess is, it will happen again. once it started happening to me, it happened over and over, and stupid me, i just kept on doing it. i'm not calling you stupid, because i was as guilty as anyone else. i really don't know what to tell you to put on them for it to stop. maybe other people out here will have some suggestions to help with the discomfort. by the time they heal it will be time for another fill-in. it is a viscous circle once it starts. either take them off or just make sure nothing becomes infected.
