Subject: Flat or irregular growth
Message: In the last several years my nails have been flattening out towards the end of my finger on just 1 side then come out over my finger and curve down. Its mainly just the first 2 fingers on each hand and makes it hard to care for them other than keeping them cut off. I have always had healthy strong nails while growing up and this is just totally weird. I know they say its down hill after 40 but its seems like when I started trying to shape and really take care of them, they went down hill.

Message: the only reason i can even come close to finding is being iron deficient. have you ever been anemic? any trauma to them previously? it might be genetic also. i really don't believe you shaping and taking care of them has anything at all to do with what is going on with them. just coincidence, that's all.

Message: I agree with the answers provided. As we age (gracefully) our bodies adjust and settle causing us to experiences a number of noticable changes. I would keep the nails at an active length, polish them with a light colored polish to make them feel like important body parts. (Apply a good base coat first to help keep polish on).
Success in presentation is knowing how to successfully camouflage.

Message: Yes, I have the exact same problem! I suppose it could be age.. but i'm not sure. Mine seem to curve a lot at the end. I've been trying to cut them down whenever it starts though.
Good advice. Bye.

Message: Heather... age?! Your not 'that' old!
Although, I have noticed your nails are rather flat, and weird shaped at the ends.

Message: I have "flat" spatulate nails - OK for guys, but not that pretty on a woman. They've always just folded down. Finally, at age 54, I finally had my first manicure! (strange, but true). My manicurist keeps them at a shorter, active length and gives me a French manicure with a creamy white at the tips and an overlay of VERY sheer pink. They actually look nice enough now that I wear pretty rings - something I never felt I could before.

Message: good for you! instead of covering them up with acrylics, you worked with what you had and made something good and pretty out of it.
