I have been bitting my nails like forever. And just recently My finger has become swollen and on one side next to my nail has turned green. Onlythe tip of my finger is swollen and hurts but can you please help me.

I know this message was posted years ago...but I was doing a search on the internet for the description of a fingernail problem I am having. This post popped up as the 1st in the list and it seems to be describing exactly what I see on my nail.
I was disappointed as I surfed the net, I found people with similar descriptions....but everyone kept postingthe answer and information in private. So although I found people with this same nail problem, I have not been able to find information on what it is or how I got it.

Any answer to what this is?

More than likely, it is infection from the nail being torn away from the side of your finger. Soak it in antibacterial soap, and water. It should go away within a day or two. JMO, I'm not a dr. or anywhere close, lol.

It sounds to me as if you now have a nail fungus. My suggestion would be to get some Tea Tree Oil, which is an antifungal oil. Put it on at least 2 times a day,every day. It's going to take longer than a few days for this to clear up. If the symptoms get worse then I would suggest that you consult with your family doctor.
