 Subject: splitting nails

About 8 months ago I had my acrylic nails removed. After about 3 months my natural nail began to grow. I was using a product from Sally's Beauty Supply called "Starting Over." My nails grew and thrived and were long and beautiful UNTIL about 2 months ago when cold weather set in. Since then they started to split and are now very short (to the quick most of them.) Nothing I do is working. I'm on a calcium supplement, estrogen, and Vitamin E. I've tried latex gloves, lotions, etc. By the time my nail grows just a little, it splits. What am I to do? Got any ideas? Help!
