Message: Why even entertain the idea of using the product while you are pregnant. If there is even the question lurking the answer is "Do not use it!"
It is absorbed and inhailed. Why do you think the masks are used by the "professionals" at the salons.
They are certainly not going to breath the fumes but yet you would allow someone to apply this toxic waste to you? Sorry, I just don't get that!
But seriously, if you even entertained the question it is probably your intuition telling you what NOT to do...So pay attention to yourself. You're smarter than that.

Message: as far as acetone in the first trimester, i would call my OB's office and ask. having acrylics done during pregnancy is something i'm sure alot of women have done everyday, but, i just wouldn't subject myself to the dust, chemicals and smell. i personally would consider it a time to remove them and let the pre-natal vitamins work their magic.

Message: Thankyou for your response.I used acetone this week to soak off acrylic nails with the intention of falling pregnant maybe next month. However it wasn't until the day after I soaked them off I realised there may be a very slim chance that I am already expecting.(sounds a bit naive).I am a hairdresser by trade and the thought of the chemical exposure there only triggered the thought about the acetone when it was possibly a bit late.In Australia nail tecs do not wear masks!!!They also claim their products are safe.!!??

Message: jacki,
i guess i would be more worried about the exposure to all the color that hairdressers deal with daily. if gloves weren't worn before, i would definitely wear them now! i have to believe one soak off to remove your acrylics is not something to worry your self over. if you dealt with remover every day and had your hands in it everyday, like i'm sure alot of manicurist's do, then i might be concerned. just consider it a time to rediscover your own natural nails again. acrylic is still acrylic no matter what hemisphere you live in! there are just too many people out here that have had terrible experiences with acrylics in an unregulated industry.

Message: Hi,
Having acrylic nail extensions applied whils pregnant or even soaking them off while pregnant is totally safe. There is no harm to the unborn baby via fumes or this product being adhered to your natural nails. As for nail techs wearing masks this is for the inhalation of the dust that can occur when filing them down to a shape, a mask should allways be offered to the client, I dont use a mask as i find it off putting, you generically find techs weraring a mask when they are using an electric file for filing down the extensions as the drill creates more dust than a normal nail file that can be controlled.

Message: soaking them off, for the brief amount of time they are in acetone, is perfectly fine, but i don't agree with having acrylics while pregnant. i just believe exposing yourself to polish remover, acid primer, monomer, acrylic powder, and dust every 2 weeks is just not healthy for the mother or growing baby. it's just my opinion and believe me, i know i'm in the minority.

Message: The fact is, the chemicals are absorbed into the tissue and into the surface of the nails. But all of that aside, if you are concerned in the least, be open to the fact that it is your intuition, or your subconscious, trying to get your attention....
I don't understand why so many people today do not pay attention to themselves, but are so ready to listen to others of the all knowing unknowing!
Ya got me!
